The DRUID Summer Conference 2004 on "Industrial Dynamics, Innovation and Development" will be held at Hotel Marienlyst Conference Center Copenhagen, Denmark

The conference is co-organized with the Sudesca project and the Globelics network and has five main objectives:

To promote the general understanding of the interplay between industrial dynamics, innovation and development
To investigate local, regional and national arrangements capable of enhancing and utilizing knowledge geared towards economic development and growth.
To examine the role of entrepreneurship and innovation at various stages of economic development.
To examine the geographical reach and the development consequences of knowledge spillovers
To consider the implications for managerial strategy and public policy.

Both senior and junior scholars are invited to participate and contribute with a paper to the conference. In particular, we wish to encourage the active participation of young scholars (Ph.D.-students and scholars who have finished their Ph.D. within the last five years).

The programme will be organized around six themes that may be approached from the perspective of rich countries or from the perspective of less developed economies.

Participation in the conference is restricted. The deadline for abstract submission was January 30, 2004. The conference's scientific committee is now considering all abstracts in the order in which they arrived with respect to novelty, academic quality and the proposed paper's relation to industrial dynamics in general and to the themes of the conference in particular.

We expect papers to be original contributions and the conference as a whole to provide an opportunity to take stock of the field of industrial dynamics in relation to innovation and development. All papers will be placed on the DRUID website (www.druid.dk) prior to the conference. Accepted papers must be submitted in their final form before May 1, 2004.
